1.What made you decide on your venue?
For us the venue was always going to be the Daughters of the American Revolution. We wanted something that was naturally beautiful and really said “DC” as many of our guests were traveling into town and hadn’t been to DC since their eighth grade field trips.
2.What was your inspiration for your wedding theme/style?
My wedding style was classic and timeless. I wanted to ensure every decision we made, we’d look back on in 30 years and still be happy with that decision.
3.What were your must-have elements for your wedding?
For us the most important aspects of our wedding was having time together just the two of us. At the end of the day, it’s about two people getting married, not just the party! We did private letters to each other and took time just the two of us after the ceremony.
4.What was the best part of wedding planning?
The best part about wedding planning was definitely the cake and catering tasting! We loved our caterer, Corcoran Caterers; we couldn’t recommend them to others enough. But my favorite part of my “bridal season” was my bachelorette. It is so fun to have people come together from different parts of your life and all get along so well!
5.What was the hardest part?
We actually had to let go of our original wedding coordinator a month before our wedding. It was an extremely stressful time, but we are so thankful to Brielle and her team for stepping in. Brielle was amazing, and at the end of the day, the stress was for the best because they executed our rainy wedding day flawlessly.
6.What helped you handle any wedding related stress?
My husband and my parents were super helpful in putting everything into perspective whenever I was stressed. But I also heavily leaned into workout classes; there is nothing better for me when stressed than breaking a sweat!
7.If you can pick one, what was your favorite moment from your wedding day?
Probably our first dance! We practiced so much, and we nailed it!
8.What is one thing you couldn’t do without at your wedding? From planning, a special feature at your wedding, or while getting ready?
I couldn’t do without my family and friends! They were so helpful during the entire process! But for getting ready, my big piece of advice is trying to eat foods you are used to eating so you can feel your best! I had South Block and Sweet Green to ensure I was full, but not bloated!
9.What made you choose MAB Artistry to be your HMU team?
I had seen MAB Artistry on social media and I loved how I could use them for multiple looks on my wedding day as well as Friday night! It was also so helpful that they had a big team, when I had lots of women getting their hair & makeup done.
10.What advice would you give to other brides planning their weddings?
Try to spend as much time together on your wedding day as you can! It goes by so fast, and you want to be able to share your memories with your husband!
